z(1938) Dean's Label Handy Pandy. Josie Rockett
Handy Pandy is from Josie and Tommy Rockett's collection.
Handy Pandy was produced by Deans at the time of the arrival of the giant Pandas at London Zoo in 1938. He is unjointed and made from art silk. His adorable little hands and his foot pads are made from black velveteen. He has his original hand painted glass eyes and nose stitching. He is filled with kapok and measures 9 inches long (this was the smallest size made). I have included an original newspaper advertisement from 1938 and taken photos of both sides of his most unusual label. He is an incredibly sweet little chap and in very good condition for his age.
