American Ideal Toy Co 17" teddy bear, General Fordham. He is in great condition,
is fully jointed and moves easily. He has the typical triangular shaped head, cupped ears, clear glass eyes with brown pupils and a cloth nose, not an embroidered stitched nose. The black cloth nose was original to the Ideal Teddy Bear in the early 1900s.
His ears are nicely set and he has a hump on his back. He is straw stuffed with no loss of stuffing. His paws are all original with only a very few moth holes to his arm paw pads. His fur is in great shape with very little loss of the mohair.
Every Teddy Bear enjoys dressing up and mine is sporting his early 1900s cotton knit vest with a very collectable vintage Fordham University pin with dangling metal football. General Fordham looks very dignified in full military uniform, but at the moment he is just relaxing between battles. |
