(1910) Steiff Aubrey
This is Aubrey a whopping 28" tall Steiff Teddy Bear c.1910. A large early Steiff Teddy Bear circa 1910, with blonde mohair, black boot button eyes, pronounced clipped muzzle, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, jointed elongated limbs with felt pads, hump and inoperative growler and letter of provenance from the second owner - 28in. (71cm.) high (tear across nose) damaged and repaired ankles, thinning to top of head and general wear) -provenance - the childhood bear of Geoffrey Hogg who was born in 1915 and later his younger brother James Hogg who was born in 1922; another brother Gordon's second name was Aubrey, named after Canon Aubrey Aitken who was vicar of St Nicholas Great Yarmouth. For the last 20 years this lovely big Steiff has been a key member of the Ivan Farewell collection
He is a really strong and handsome bear. He has a good mohair cover. A solid old boy with a lovely expression.
