Sold(1920) Monsieur Blanc £125
Here is Monsieur Blanc. He is a tall boy of 24 ins, (60 cm), wood wool stuffed, big transparent glass eyes with black pupils.
He dates from the end of 1920. He has got long legs and tiny ankles which is typical of this period. Also typical is how he is made particularly the front final seam. Pintel used to stuff their bear from the front. However, it caused problems doing it this way because the sewing had to be perfect and was taking more time to do. So from 1930s they changed it.
This Pintel retains about 85% of his mohair. As you can see in the picture, there is a patch on his right arm, it shows the bear has had a life!!! 3 claws are missing on his left foot.
The stuffing is still very strong.
